Total cost of 2 containers of 256 nails each = 2 * 9.75 = 19.50. Cost per nail = 19.50/512
The difference = 31/512 - 19.50/512 = 11.50/512,
Who wants to do that? Let's approximate. Call it 10/500 = 1/50 = 2/100 = .02. The answer is A.

4 containers of 128 nails each cost 4 x 7.75, so per nail the cost is:lheiannie07 wrote:A particular type of nail is sold in containers of 256 for $9.75 and in containers of 128 for $7.75. (4 x 7.75)/512 = 7.75/128 ≈ 0.06
2 containers of 256 nails each cost 2 x 9.75, so per nail the cost is:
(2 x 9.75)/512= 9.75/256 ≈ 0.04
Thus, each nail would cost approximately $0.02 more when the employee bought the nails in smaller containers instead of the larger containers.
