How accurate are gmatprep v1 scores?

by sojourn » Sun Jul 17, 2011 3:12 am
I recently took gmatprep v2 as well as gmatprep v1 test under full exam conditions.

Here are the results

gmatprep v2 1:730(q49 v40)

gmatprep v2 retake:770(q50 v46)

gmatprep v1 1:760(q51 v41)

I am leaving the gmatprep 2 for the final prep few days before the exam.

I understand that gmatprep retake scores are gonna be inflated, but what about gmatprep v1? Is the scoring algo of both the versions similar? Are gmatprep v1 scores as representative of the present gmat as the gmatprep v2?

By v1 if you mean first attempt, yes, GMAT Prep scores are the closest indicators of your performance since it uses the same algorithm used by the actual test and contain questions similar to the actual test.

Hope this encourages you.
Vineesh,
Just telling you what I know and think. I am not the expert. :)

by v1 the poster here meant version1. V1 means the first gmat prep which was released somewhere in 2004-05. (this is almost the same as gmat prep but not powerprep)

the sequence of questions in the older version was changed a bit in version 2. The question bank for both versions is pretty much the same. So you might see a few repeats even if u use the two different versions.
Cheers !!
