Solving Questions w/ Variables in Answer Choices

All,

Person A played T games, won half of first F games, won one quarter of remaining games

what percent of games did she win total?

they explain that PERCENT = 100(# games won) / (Total # of games) so comes out to 100((F/2) + (T-F)/4)) / T

why isn't it just PERCENT = (F(1/2) + (T-F)(1/4)) / T

In other words, why are they multiplying 100 by the rest of the numerator?

Take a simple scenario. Imagine you played 2 games and won 1 of them. You won 50 percent of your games, right? The calculation is 100 *(1/2) If you don't multiply by 100, you just have 1/2 or .5, and clearly it's not the case that you won .5% of your games. There's nothing special about this question - we just always need to multiply by 100 when converting fractions into percents.
