I know it's more of an autobiography than a debrief, as you say, but it was well worth reading it thoroughly! Thanks for your input into this community, and for sharing your story. It was a good analysis, and since you took the test three times, each time reflecting on the experience and never missi...

Let's face it, you won't learn any new material in the last two days, at least you won't retain much. Before I wrote the GMAT I looked over a couple old Manhattan and GMAT Prep exams just to keep the 'feel' of the questions. It was very relaxed. On the day before the test, I just chilled at home, an...

What were your verbal and quantitative sub-scores? It sounds like you have a good grasp of verbal, from what you say. I too would focus on quant, if its an area that could be most markedly improved. If you are shooting for the 650-level, then the Official Guide is all that you need. Make sure you na...

Did you check to see whether your operating system is compatible? There is nothing 'wrong' with the software.

The problem with the OG
Jeff Sackmann put it well when he says about the Official Guide in his forum: "The questions, on average, are set at about the level of a 600-650 test taker." The questions on my GMAT were considerably harder. So how do I study for the upper level?

Hello, I noted that you suffered exam anxiety the first time you wrote in addition to the fact that you had no sleep. The one thing you didn't really describe in your debrief is how you overcame your nerves and also how you got sleep -a full night's sleep too! Both so critical for success.

You could try memorizing idioms. That will maybe help you get 1-2 more questions right on the verbal section. It might be worth the effort. In the GMAT Sentence Correction questions, GMAC has tried to minimize cultural bias. Instructors, please correct me if I am wrong. Instead of being tested on i...

As per another thread:
variance of binomial distribution is n*p*(1-p), n = 3, p = 1/2
variance = 3*1/2*(1-1/2)= 3/4
stdev = sqrt(variance) = sqrt(3)/2
After many trials sample standard deviation is close to theoretical standard deviation = sqrt(3)/2.
C is the answer.

You see, it's this sort of debrief that breathes life into the process. Reading this debrief is so refreshing! Thank you! And yes, I couldn't agree more that the moderate and easy questions are one's bread and butter. After all, the concepts are not particularly difficult as discreet elements; they ...
