Hi there, I believe it depends very much on what industry you intend to go into. I met a fellow admit at Wharton who did her UG (engineering) at MIT and she said she had to pass up many good engineering jobs because she was a foreigner without a green card. On the other hand, MBAs looking to go into...

I would also recommend going through informal channels to get as many stakeholders to support you as possible. My ex-colleague did it by discussing it with his boss, subsequently the CEO (also an INSEAD grad himself) and only after gaining their support did he go through the formal channels.

Re: Accepted into Cornell-Queens eMBA

That's an awesome feeling, isn't it? Applying only to one place and getting in at your ideal school. Obviously your situation was a lot better thought out, though. I simply ran out of time. Have fun at Cornell, and avoid that bridge where suicides apparently occur a lot.

Hi all, Just thought I'd chime in and say that I simply took down the questions that I couldn't nail and copied them in a single book. NGUFO is right, revision is key. No point sacrificing quality studying time for a rushing to meet a 'goal' of finishing 'at least' how many passages a day. I instead...

Thank you. Good luck in your own endeavours, I feel I've had more than my fare share recently. What with the recent upturn in R1 applicants, I still managed to get admitted, which is something I feel incredulous about. Just goes to show, hope and luck are very important!

Cheers,
Jason

Depending on your race, country of origin and all that, there are also (very competitive!) external scholarships offered by some organisations. Forget about graduate school scholarships, though- they tend to give no love to business-school applicants.

Quite a few of my friends have gone to Princeton. I think LBS or LSE also has a programme.

Re: Mensa on your application CV?

Being a member of Mensa, as with most other interests and hobbies, are not relevant to your business school aspirations. Unless these are 'fun' interests that will make people think you're interesting and be an asset to campus life, I would leave them out. Hi all, Would you put the fact that you're ...

Given your relatively poor GPA compared to others in your pool, I would attempt to retake the GMAT to prove your academic ability. More evidence of community involvement (volunteer experience) may be good too. Other than that, your work experiences and ECs look very strong. You would probably expect...

Ad. Consultants' Ethics

Hi Amy, As an admission consultant and an alumni of Wharton, what is your view of the ethics surrounding the industry/ profession? I ask because Judith Hodara, a member of the adcom staff at Wharton, has been implicated in a journalistic expose on the questionable practices of Japanese Admission Con...

Thank you for your well wishes. It's my dream programme, and I'm definitely happy. It's not HBS, however. There's a magical mystique attached to Harvard, so your fight is obviously going to be much harder. Good luck! Let us know how it goes.

Those are all valid concerns, but I would wager that many other business school candidates have the same problems, especially for the full-time programmes. They seem to do just fine nonetheless. Whether or not you're willing to sacrifice is however entirely up to you. As for the brand, I believe it ...

Hi NGUFO, I will be doing the Wharton/Lauder MBA/MA dual degree programme, starting this May. I posted my experience in the Admissions Success Story section, if you're interested. If you read my post, you may agree that luck had a lot more to do with it than anything else, considering my decision to...
