It could also be done as follows:
Let us assume that the 15 men leave after x days,
Therefore, total men days---> 25 * 20 = 25 * x + 10 * 37 1/2 [10 because 15 men leave)
Upon solving the equation we get, x = 5 days
Hence OA = A.
Thanks.

I reckon the solution is as follows: From the formula of SI, Total amount = P + PRN/100 So, total amount at the end of 8 & 1/3 years will be: 2x = x + (x*r*100/12*100) [ 8 & 1/3 years = 100 months and 12 in the denominator because 12 months in a year] Solving the equation we get, r = 12%. No...

The other solution could be: The sum of any two sides of a triangle is greater than the third side. 1) If the perimeter=9, then third side would be 2(i.e 2+5+x=9,hence,x=2) So the three sides 2,2,5. Now, 2+2=4<5 and hence the condition of triangle is not satisfied. 2) Same is the case for options 15...

MBA.Aspirant Posted Wed Aug 17, 2011 4:04 am I get x>y, then how to go about it? I think the answer should be (E). I reckon this is how: Let us assume following values of x and y: 1)x=-1, y=-2 2)x=2, y=1 x^5--- x^4--- x^3--- x^2--- x^1--- y^1--- y^2--- y^3--- y^4 (taken from the question itself) -1 ...

hey guys... thanks a ton for the replies... the OA for the question is C)10. I got the trick in the question, but was not quite clear as to why the power of 3 has to be the answer and not the power of 2 ( which is 22 and also one of the answer choices). Thanks again for the replies. Regards, Alay Naik
