From the first statement I deduced x is positive. Why is it wrong?

The numbers x and y are not integers. The value of x is closest to which integer?
1. 4 is the integer that is closest to x+y
2. 1 is the integer that is closest to x-y.

2. r > 0

From the given statement : r^2 + 2 > Pr
1. since P = r
r^2 + 2 > r.r ... which is always true
Please explain what am I doing wrong.
