I agree with everything said on here. It won't be a big deal to lose your deposit and go to the school you really want to go to. I wanted to add a little unsolicited advice - unless the school you want to go to is WAY better than the one you deposited at you should at least give the school which suc...

Good luck! I'm sure you made the right decision. I too was following the rankings and noticed Simon's slip. I was an applicant to Simon and I was invited to their scholarship weekend but did not end up attending. I have already been to school in western NY and I really felt like it wasn't for me thi...

I think you're leaning in the right direction! Go where the money is! I just turned down a much better ranked program to take a named scholarship at a school in the 30's. I think having the scholarship on your resume is not as good as a top school, but it certainly helps! And just imagine how good i...

I FULLY FULLY agree with you. A lot of what I said is purely anecdotal. I welcome any of your thoughts on anything specific? This is definitely only my experience and some of the conclusions that I drew which could be and I'm sure some of which are, completely wrong. I urge everyone to read this jus...

Application Advice and my thoughts
Greetings fellow applicants! Preface: I spent about a month slowly writing this. PLEASE don’t be offended by anything I write in here. I would value any thoughts or ideas. I have obviously left out names of schools b/c I don’t want to be slanderous – instead I just want to try and make some se...

You're right. That wasn't fair of me to not explain. I'm actually working on a much lengthier full debrief but here's a short version: First, I think the instructions in the link I provided above are pretty much dead on. If you have a competing off then most schools will try to beat it. Perhaps only...

Conrad and the Stacy Blackman Team, While I appreciate your response I COULD NOT DISAGREE WITH YOU MORE. As someone who is going through the admissions process right now I have found that 6 out of the 7 schools I was accepted to have increased their scholarship offers after some negotiating on my pa...

I wouldn't just send them the check. I would call and ask for more time. I wouldn't say b/c you're waiting on another school, but I would say something like, "I just need more time - can I have a week." My understanding is that once you're admitted it is extremely unlikely they will ever w...

I whole heartedly agree with papgust and congratulate you for overcoming your health issues. What you described sounds perfect for all the optional essays. My only advice would be to be careful to frame it in a way that it clearly has to do with your work and abilities in business school.

No. I didn't do any follow up. I have no intention of applying again next year so although I'd be interested in hearing I'm not that interested. As a follow up I got wait listed at Yale last week. I was surprised because I was not interviewed. Does this happen a lot? A wait list without an interview?
