I would guess that the answer is E, i.e. 11-x>0 Here is my reasoning: If (x-11)(x-3)<0 then at least one of them must be negative. Intuitively then, x-11 is the negative part and x-3 is positive because in the former case you subtract a larger number. x-11<0 | *(-1) 11-x>0 Any other takers?

My guess is that A is the correct answer. If you know that the slope is negative then the line will definitely cross the second quadrant (just draw the system of coordinates and see it for yourself). (2) is insufficient in my opinion because the line could be upward sloping with the intercept of -6 ...

Could someone please explain the second sentence? i.e. seating arragements are considered different only when the positions of the people are different relative to each other.

Without even getting into the math, which is actually very simple as I noticed, I was bogged down by the phrasing.

IMO it is A simply because all of the other options refer to something that is out-of-context. I can elaborate later if needed.

What's the OA?

Although I understand your answer, I am asking myself why cant one use permutations to solve this problem? What I mean is the following: 26P3 = 15,600 26P2 = 650 26P1 = 26 This method gives an answer which doesn't match any of the given choices. But I still don't understand why can't you apply permu...

Thanks awesomeusername.

Then, I gather that there is little to no repetition in quant problems between the Main OG book and the OG Quant Review book? Am I correct?

What do you mean? Do you recommend MGMAT for quant review?

I was referring to the Official Guide by GMAC (OG) and the Official Guide for GMAT Quantitative Review, also by GMAC. A new edition (2nd) is out this year.

Study materials question

Dear all, I took the GMAT test a few months ago and scored 620. My primary weakness is the quantitative section. At that time, I used Kaplan materials to study for the test. Now I plan to purchase the Official Guide by GMAC. Since my main weakness is the quant section, I am thinking of buying the OG...
