HELP! My girlfriend is applying this cycle and is having some problem with the TOEFL. She's from China and before she came to the U.S. (appx. a year ago), she had very little knowledge of English. She's done well on the GMAT (730) but not so hot on the TOEFL (94 the first try, 98 the second). Her bi...

JD/MBA Q: apply now or 3rd round?
I am a 1L @ HLS, applying for a JD/MBA. Unfortunately I got a very late start on my application essays (last week!) and the best I can do by Tuesday is to have mediocre essays ready. Should I apply now or keep working on the essays for R3? Other info: One very good rec, 2 good ones. CPA but with onl...

If you want to work and live in CA, think hard before getting a masters in accounting. The main purpose of the 1 year masters in acc programs is to satisfy the education requirement for the CPA license in states that require 5 years of college. CA is one of the states that needs only 4 years, which ...

Going for the 2nd round. I am a 1L @ HLS so HBS is the only school I will be applying to.
Stupid Q: is there any sample essays or other general application info available online?

Thanks for the advice guys! Unfortunately the situation has kind of changed now. I got off the waitlist at HLS and moved to Boston so now I should consider applying to HBS instead and things aren't looking that good :( I have not even started researching HBS but I know it's a hell of a lot harder to...

ED at Columbia
I just started my first semester at CLS and want to apply to the B school for a JD/MBA. Since I am already a student here and Columbia is my only option (and the admissions obviously knows this), would applying ED give me any advantage? Being a broke student, $6K is a lot of money to drop for deposi...

I will try to make it to the first round but if not the 2nd round for sure. I am already in Columbia Law, applying for a joint degree. Could you guys also post your stats?
Oh and good luck everyone!

Well I didn't actually use any of their books. I just bought an online access code that gives access to 6 sample tests and took the tests. The results came the closest to the actual exam and the analysis tools were very useful.

1) (X-1)^2>4
-2 < X - 1 < 2
-1 < X < 3
sufficient
2) (x-2)^2 < 9
-3 < X - 2 < 3
-1 < X < 5
Not sufficient
IMO A.

I thought those tests were easier than the actual exam so I wouldn't rely on or read too much into the results. Your score and timing on the GMATPrep tests are much better estimation and analysis tools.

You're right about Kaplan. MGMAT and OG12 should be more than enough to get you to 600+.
Have you taken the LSAT yet? What other prep material did you use for it and which one did you find to be the most useful?

What was your RC prep/exam strategy......? Reading the passage once and then answering the Qs. I tried reading the Qs first and going back to the passage for the answers but A) it's more time consuming and B) in almost all prep tests and the real exam I finished the verbal section early so I didn't...

C. #1 shows Y is greater than X but doesn't prove anything about Z. #2 only shows Z is greater than X. Together they're sufficient.
