Today, I got my AWA score as well: a 5.5
Just want to repeat that I did not put in a lot of effort in AWA but still managed a decent AWA score. All you have to do is pick up a template of your choice from the ones available on this site and practice a couple of arguments using the same.
Cheers

I am not doubting your score, and actually the calculator I used says it should be 10 points higher at 740. I think you should consider looking into it, because there's no reason why 2 more points on verbal isn't getting you a higher score. Hi uwhusky, I took note of the point you raised at the fir...

Hi uwhushky, I just checked my Unofficial Report aga...

U said verbal was tougher in actual test as compared to MGMAT. Can please elaborate more on this part. Hi Nikhil, If you would have given the MGMAT's, then you would have seen that some of the questions test the basic SC concepts such as: 1) 'whether or not' is always redundant and 2) basic paralle...

Analysis of Issue Examples
Hi, I have the following question about examples used for Analysis of an Issue question: Can we use examples which are restricted to a particular geography/region? Many GMAT takers would not be based out of the US (I, myself, am from India), so could we use examples which are relevant in our own loc...

Hi Eloka,
Below is how this works:
root of a negative number is real only if the root is odd, (3,5,7,9 etc)
Eg. cube root (-27) or (-27)^(1/3) = -3 or -3*-3*-3 = -27
root in general english refers to square root or ^(1/2)
sqrt(-27) or sqrt(-1) is not allowed and hence imaginary

IMO A
1) v = 3^x + 1 ; u = 2^x +1
v-u = 3^x-2^x
hence v-u != 2(3^x-2^x) hence sufficient
2) x= 3
does not help

IMO C
1) p + q = r
p = r-q
by definition of absolute value
when p is +ve |p| = p and when p is -ve |p| = -p
so insufficient
2) p <0 insufficient
combined:
|p| = -p = q-r hence sufficient
