They only have one free online test. If you want to get access to the other ones, you have to buy the book with the DVD (2007 or 2008). It gives you access to the other online tests. Definitely worth it.

I would highly recommend getting the review book Cracking the GMAT. It has great strategies that can help you break out of the 550s. I would try a bit more serious prep before deciding on a prep course, and then if it's not happening, go for it.

Yes, you can take it as many times as you want (although there are limits to how often you can take it in a calendar year -- go to www.mba.com for info)...but I wouldn't take it more than 3 times. MAYBE 4, but the adcomms will question your priorities if you just keep taking it.

Yeah, I read that too, that the online Kaplan test is easier. I don't know if it's 80 points easier, but for now I would focus on what types of questions you struggled with more than trying to figure out how on target the score is. Do some more practice and then take a GMATPrep or Princeton Review t...

I would recommend doing PR, GMATPrep and Powerprep. Arco and 800score.com are usually blasted by others, and Kaplan's tests are notoriously hard and not representative of the real thing. I don't know about the Veritas tests; they're newer than the others and I have almost never seen anyone comment o...

Hi! Welcome to the group! I would strongly recommend that you take a break from preparing for the GMAT and instead work on your English skills. Take a few English courses and/or get a tutor. You will need to greatly improve your understanding of the language to improve your verbal score, and to gain...

beny, yes, the PR tests ARE adaptive. You may not have liked the results, but they're still adaptive. I asked them straight-out.

Everyone's tests are easier than Kaplan's!! LOL. Definitely don't use those to gauge your score.

Princeton Review or Manhattan GMAT would be fine to use as a diagnostic.

I did Princeton Review's online course and would definitely recommend them. The lessons were engaging and the materials you get are different from the ones you can buy in a bookstore. (when I last checked before choosing a class, Kaplan used the same books in their course that they sell everywhere)....

650 is hardly a miserable score. A 550, yes, but not 650. Were you feeling particularly stressed during the test? Your GMATPrep and PR scores are pretty close to each other, and probably fairly indicative of how you could do on the real thing. Try to figure out what went wrong on test day, and go fr...

PR's is FAR better than Kaplan (it is adaptive and the scoring algorithm is very close). I haven't used Manhattan's tests.

Sorry to hear it...must have been quite a shock to the system. If you were doing well in your prep, it could have just been a bad day. I know it's shaken your confidence, but get right back in there with your prep and work hard toward your goal. You can do it!

I agree that you should definitely consider a prep course or tutor. Having a professional help you figure out specific weaknesses and develop a targeted strategy to attack them could make a huge difference. Some companies offer payment plans, so you can spread out the cost, so check that out if the ...

Yes, I would say that retaking GMAT practice tests after you've finished your actual GMAT qualifies you to be a dork!! LOL. Nice job on the 780. That score is almost as impossible as 800, which I've never personally heard of anyone achieving. I did not have any troubles with the Princeton CATs (yes,...
