Let S be average speed D be total distance = 300 ft T be total time take to travel 300 ft Bill's average speed S = D/T = 300/T Bill's effective speed relative to group of people = 3 ft/sec so, t1 = 120/3 = 40 sec However, note that in 40 sec, Bill and group of people together travelled 40x3 = 120 ft...

In this question we need to know the cut off score below which recruiters have to retest. We know it is bottom 16%. We also know average of the scores = 72 Stem 1) we know population (500). Probability that it rains all 5 days = 1/2 * 1/2 * 1/2* 1/2 * 1/2
we need to find probability of raining exactly 3 days - in no particular order... which is 5 C 3 = 5*4*3/3*2*1 = 10
Probability of raining 3 days exact in 5 day period = 10 * 1/2^5 = 5/16

Q3.
All possible events - 5: (2,6 3, 5 4, 4 5, 3 6, 2)
Desired events - 2: (3, 5 5, 3)

Q1: Backsolve.
Start with C. (3^(x-1)) = 3^3x/3^3= 10
which is 3^3x = 90x3
Square both sides
(3^3x)^2 = 8100 x 9
which is 3^6x = 8100x9
Which is more than 8100. Hence the answer should be lower than 10.
Pick D - 10/3. If you solve you will get 3^6x = 8100. Hence answer is D
