From what a lot of people say, Kaplan is not good for verbal and especially RC, and is definitely harder.
Unusual to finish with so much time left. Slow yourself down and take enough time with each question so you can properly evaluate the answer choices.

I personally think they're only worth taking if you've completely exhausted the CATs that are available. You need to practice on computer-adaptive tests to be fully prepared. The experience of taking it is just as important as practicing the questions. Trust me!

Magneto, that would be copyright infringement, which is illegal, so please don't ask people about that. Those materials are never available in soft copy because they're too easy to pirate that w...

Powerprep is seriously outdated and doesn't match the current scoring algorithm. There are plenty of other quality tests out there...take them instead.

There should be a sticky post on this. I swear, this question gets asked at least once a week. There's another free one on Princeton Review's site: http://www.princetonreview.com/business/free-gmat-practice-test.aspx?uidbadge= It's a different test from the ones in the Cracking the GMAT book, so if ...

Have you picked up a strategy guide yet, or are you just doing practice questions? It helps to know info about how the test is set up, and tips to beat it. Get a book like Cracking the GMAT and read it cover to cover before starting to really prep again, then see how it feels. You might need a prep ...

I think working with a tutor is a good idea. I think the only materials you haven't used that are quality materials are the Manhattan GMAT ones, so work through those for some fresh questions. The quality of your prep matters more than the quantity, so instead of powering through again, slow down an...

Kaplan's scoring being way off is legend, but not myth. Some people do report their real scores to be close to their Kaplan scores, but most people have the same experience you did. I think your plan is good and that you're on the right track. Attack your weaknesses and be sure to carefully analyze ...

I don't think I've seen any mention of McGraw Hill on here before, so I don't think it's too popular for GMAT. GMATprep is definitely a better indicator, so a 710 on one of those is sweet!

What was your composite score and your quant score? What did you get on your AWA? A 40 verbal is pretty good so retaking probably isn't worth it unless your current score is below the average for the schools you're applying to. Also depends on how strong your other stats are.

Kaplan scores do not accurately reflect how you're really doing, no. If you want to get a realistic feel, use the GMATPrep tests and Princeton Review tests. Those are the best ones for approximating your score. Don't only focus on CATs, though. You need to do untimed practice, and take time between ...
