Hey sillybirdie, Welcome, I can offer my take... The rankings for MBA programs purely based on their strength in IT hasn't changed from what I posted above. First tier would be schools like Stanford GSB, Wharton and MIT/Sloan, second tier would be CMU/Tepper and Texas/McCombs and 3rd tier would incl...

MS Excel Review

I'm starting school this Fall and I'm only versed in the basics of Excel. Can anyone recommend a good resource for review?

I've found Duke/Fuqua's online database of Excel Tutorials but they are a little dated and I'm wondering if another program has posted newer offerings. Thanks!

Fellow DC resident here. I'm starting at Smith in the Fall. I actually am from Columbus originally, and I would put in a bid for OSU here. My reasoning is simple, it would provide you a good balance between ranking and cost of living. Sounds like they've given you a good scholarship already and hone...

terpy, Thanks for your response, I appreciate your input. You raise some good points. I'm responding to some of your points to fill in some knowledge that seems to be missing about the Part-time program at UMD, not to counter someone that was trying to offer helpful advice, but to assist anyone else...

Sul, your post was a little confusing. It looks like you're currently PLANNING to apply, but you haven't yet? Either way, I think you've got a good shot at Cornell, UCLA and Yale. I certainly don't think you're out of the running for Columbia and Booth, but you're right that you want just walk in th...

Agreed. I don't start school until this Fall but it won't change anything there. My wife and I might not go out as much or something but nothing will change as far as how I take time to be there for her and make her feel loved. I made a commitment to her that far exceeds the commitment I will make t...

Yes it is. Unfortunately you and I hit the same area GMAT-wise. Just strong enough to show you know what you're doing but not strong enough to submit it comfortably to good schools. I truly think that with your stats you'd be a lock for at least one of these schools. And they're all similarly ranked...

Admitted to Maryland/Smith Part-time DC

Thought I'd share my story.... After working in clinical healthcare for a while I realized that I most interested in pursusing a business career, especially in something dealing with emerging markets (marketing or consulting most likely) I spent most of last year pursuing a career change that would ...

All 3 are solid programs. At Texas A&M (Avg GMAT = 647) and SMU (Avg GMAT = 655) your GMAT shouldn't be an issue, but it could hold you back at Rice (the highest ranked of the 3 schools and an avg. GMAT of 673 last year). I would say that if you don't feel like you're going to improve anymore at...

Sounds like you've made your decision. Enjoy your time at Tulane, it's a fine school to have on your resume down the road, and I know it especially carries weight in the South.

Really the first thing, if you haven't done it yet, is take the GMAT. Then start matching your stats against schools in the top 100 and see where you place. Remember that it's just a general rule though, your intangibles will play a role as well. Money should NOT be your first concern. An MBA from H...

Pitt/Katz is a much better school than SUNY Buffalo or CUNY Zicklin. Going there at least gets you into the ranked programs. This means a better network post-graduation, higher average starting salary and better name on your resume. I can't speak between SUNY and CUNY but if you get into Pitt, that'...

Glad to help. For starters, I'm not an expert, and there are plenty of experts on this forum that may have better insight :-) Second, I really like PoetsAndQuants.com's rankings, because they compile various rankings and estimate an average. All of the rankings have their flaws but if you consider t...

Hard to say. Texas A&M/Mays has a MUCH better full-time MBA, but if their Part-time program is new you may be better off sticking with Tulane/Freeman. Both are decent enough schools so no need to worry about reputation. Diversifying by getting your MBA from a different school shouldn't factor in...
