IMO the answer is C. What is OA? Here is my work. Let me know if there is a shorter/quicker way to resolve. I) Is x-y > 0 1) 2x-y>0 2) y<0 From the stem we can rephrase and the question becomes Is x>y? Statement 1: Can be rephrased to state that 2x>y. Pick numbers for x, lets try x=2. For x=2 this i...

The answer is 4. There are multiple ways to attack this problem. Here's one; 4<(x-1)^2<16 4<x^2-2x+1<16 subtract 4 from all segments 0<x^2-2x-3<12 0<(x-3)*(x+1)<12 when x = 3 the quadratic is equal to zero. The above suggests the quadratic must be greater than zero and less than 12. Therefore x must...

Inequalities
Stuart,
Thank you for that. Help me understand where the following line of reasoning goes wrong.
x^2 > 2x
assume x is negative therefore
(-x)(-x) > 2(-x)
divide both sides by -x
-x < 2
multiply by -1
x > -2

What is the length of the hypotenuse of the triangle? - 8 - 16 - 4 sqrt(2) - 8sqrt(2) - 16sqrt(2) The answer says 16, but I think the question should have read the ...
