Please can anyone explain that why the above sentence is correct instead of

because i think much is used with uncountable nouns but here parents are countable.

Hey,
'However much' is an idiom, meaning 'as much as'. So it does not involve any counting of parents here.

'Despite the fact that parents in johannson's district may agree that'- here fact and may do not go together, so it is incorrect.
