1.Although partially destroyed, the archaeologists were able to infer from what remained of the inscription that the priest Zonainos was buried in the crypt.
The modifier is placed incorrectly. The archaeologists were not partially destroyed. Eliminate A. Eliminate all the choices that maintain the dangling modifier: Eliminate B and E.
Only C and D repair the modifier problem.
D has a mistake with the past perfect tense. Past past event (past perfect) - past event (past tense): D places both events in the past perfect (past before past). D also sounds like something Yoda would say. Eliminate D.
C is the answer.
2.Although the manager agreed to a more flexible work schedule, he said that it must be posted on the bulletin board so that both management and labor will know what everyone is assigned to do.
There are no problems. A is the answer.
If you can't tell if it's right or wrong:
B: Subject/verb agreement problem. "Knows" doesn't match the plural subject "management and labor". Eliminate B.
C: "...he said that they..." They who? There's no antecedent. Eliminate C.
D: The "was" doesn't match the tense - posting the schedule happens in the future (would makes it conditional). Eliminate D.
E: Removes the independent clause after the comma. Eliminate E.
