Hello ,
I am kunal Sharma and i need guidance regarding my profile and which B School i should prefer.
I have completed my B Tech in mechanical engineering from IIT,India which is world renewed and comes in top 10 best engineering collages of india. but My GPA is not very good it is 7.00 out of scale of 10.00 and our class topper had 8.1 out of 10 and my position is 25 out of 55 people. Also as required buy some collages in my last 60 hrs final year study i have 8.52 out of 10 and i topped the class.
I have a work experience of 3 years in core power generation field with reliance energy limited , which is reputed company in india and abroad and i deal with manufacturing and quality departments. i am working directly under Assistant Vice president of my company and i can provide his recommendation as well. i also have 2 year part time work experience.
I have done good projects in my company as well as in other reputed companies in my under graduation and i can arrange good recommendation and professional testimonies. I also have good technical projects and very decent record of extra curricular activities as i served as convenor of technical fest and on the same time i had conducted seminars and work shops on fine art, since it is my hobby and i have huge interest in it, which i believe can add versatility in my profile.
My GMAT score is 720 with equally good performance in QA and VA.
Now my query is with this profile can I expect admission in any good B School in US, UK & Canada with bright future aspirations and some financial assistant? If yes, than for which b schools should i go.
i also have time to take GMAT again, so shall i go for it.
I also want to know what measure i can take to improve my chances of admission in my b school since at this stage my GPA can not be improved.
Please provide your extremely valuable suggestions
regards
Kunal Sharma

First congrats on your score. 720 is a great score unless you expected more. and your academic record is great. Your 3 years full time work experience will be considered but not the part time work experience. That wont be considered but you can show what you have learned from all your experiences in your essay. You can definitely go for the top B'Schools. But there are many deciding factors for choosing an MBA. You can also check out https://www.mba.com for extensive details on B'Schools. Post in the research MBA programs forum here in BTG.

Hello,
Congratulation on your GMAT score.
With this score you can easily aim at top institutes like Harvard,Columbia and Wharton. So we would advice you to work on your application now.
Generally most of the Indian applicants are from an engineering background with a good 4-5 years of work experience. Although it is not just the work experience that counts but also what you did there like-what were your achievements, what initiative you took, what changes you drove in your workplace etc. So if you can show that in 3 years you have demonstrated the skills business schools are looking for you could still put in a strong set of essays.
So make sure you highlight your academics and beyond well in your application and your profile is differentiated from the rest. Also if your part time work experience could be related to your desired course subject/subjects then it could boost your chances.
We would suggest you to read these articles to guide you on the financial assistance dilemma-

Just please please please focus on the OTHER parts of your application now that you have a score > 720. The score alone will not get you in to HBS, Wharton, or Columbia. Your score just won't keep you out of those schools. Although I do believe the HBS avg is 730 this year.
My goal is to make MBA applicants take onus over their process.
