"different than" is incorrect idiom.

Should be "different from"

B for sure.

i believe you have to see what is being compared in terms of if the items are alike or not alike. in this case eyes are being compares, so being alike, '...for' would work.

C is wrong because 'that' is in appropriate here since 'their' is being used in the original sentence indicating a plural use, whereas 'that' implies a singular use in this context.

B works for both of these reasons. hope this helps.

Thanks Niraj... I think its clear to me now. Eyes is plural and "that" is singular. (B) seems more appropriate now :).

That can refer to both plural and singular and it depends on the verb that follows that. That can refer to singular or plural. Refer SC-1000#193/ 379

In this case that has been used without a following verb hence it is singular.

i think b after reading it over and over again may be correct for few reasons.

1-that restricts- fish eyes may be diff from humans, birds, whatever, not just mammals. meaning changes.

b mammal's (eyes)assumed. only one closet to being correct.

looking at other examples in gmat prep, that used when comparing cars to cars, here need to clarify what, eyes to mammals

eg the biryani in chicago is horrible compared to that in india--

please correct me if I am wrong.
