Hi
Can you please let me know what kind of references we should use in our application . Does both the refernces needs to be some person under whom we have worked or it can be a relative also who is working in some premier organization within United States . Also , In the rules it is mentioned that you neeed full contact details of the references . Do you people call and check the authenticity of the refernces ? The reason I am asking is I work in an IT company in India and my project manager is there in US but by the time my application is submitted and if you contact my manager , she may come to India also and her contact details will thus change . Please shed some light on these concerns.
Thanks

The references can be any person that you think can provide strength to your application. It can be coworkers, bosses, family members--we prefer professional relationships, but it's up to you.
And yes we do need to have full contact information to verify claims in the applications, if needed.
Good luck!

Hello Eric,Names of two references: include full contact information and description of relationship to you
Do the references have to write a recommendation letter also or only their contact information is required.
Thanks

Sorry about the late reply, didn't see this message since it's in last year's scholarship forum.
To answer your question, lstephens8--it depends on the reference. If the person is a coworker, then we may try to validate any claims about your work with that person. If it is a friend or family member, then we may validate some other parts of your application that are pertinent.
Hope that answers your question, and hope you apply!
