Among a bunch of sweaters, 3/5 are pullovers and 1/4 are white. What portion of all the sweaters is not white pullovers?
(1) There are 60 sweaters in total
(2) 1/3 of the pullovers is white
Just by eyeballing I know its D, but just wondering how to solve it..

Is the answer D? I am getting is as B.
(2) tells us that 1/3 of the pullovers are white. Since 3/5 of the total are pullovers we can find the fraction of white pullovers and hence the non-white pullovers.
(1) tells us that there 36 pullovers and 15 whites. This does not help us calculate any additional detail.
Am I missing anything here?

hmm ... i agree with prassana .. the answer is B and not D ... just a word of caution "eyeballing" culd prove fatal in DS ... there needs to be a concrete strategy to solve DS ...jamesk486 wrote:Among a bunch of sweaters, 3/5 are pullovers and 1/4 are white.
