We need an another independent clause after ;
This eliminates B, C and D with a first look.
We dont need IT in A
A. that immediate government action to combat it is merited by the situation
So I would choose E
e. whether the government should immediately combat it is merited by the situation
IMO, this option can also be written as:
it is merited by the situation whether the government should immediately combat

IMO D
That pollution harms the environment is self-evident;
that the situation merits immediate government action to combat it is a matter of debate
Am not convinced though.
I always believed that 'that' introduces the subordinate Clause. I am wondering how even the 1st sentence is an IC. pls assist?

E expresses a possibility. In IC1, "evident" means we need confirmed set of actionslogitech wrote:A. that immediate government action to combat it is merited by the situation

IMO, this option can also be written as:

D is correct for many reasons:
a. Independent clause
b. Not passive.. all other options are extremely passive
c. Expresses parallelism
d. refrains from "possible " mood.

Bidisha,
Please take this as a friendly request. If u could add some explanations to your post(in quant/verbal) rather than a
A
X
K
G
Y
qqqqqqq
then we would very much appreaciate it. I see that u have excellent scores in the GMAT PREP'S so if u can share some of that knowledge in this forum then that would be great too.
P.S: Please post explanations rather than an alphabet. We can keep our IMO's to oursleves. I am sure any sane person like any of us would agreee. Thank you!
IMO's are nothing but more POLLUTION to any forum. Let's stomp the poullution and keep this forum user friendly.....
