Q- A movie studio M produces 5 mindless action flicks per year, and movie studio N produces 12 mindless action flicks every three years. If the two studios sign a five-year contract to work together and continue to produce these masterpieces at the same rate, how many will be made over the course of the contract?

M+N in 1 year=9 action flicks

how can we assume that if N is making 12 in 3 years, that he will make 4 every year..what if he made 6 in one year and 5 in one year and 1 in one year...

i can see the answer as M making 5 per year- therefore in a space of 5 years= 25
N making 12 in 3 years, therefore total is 25+12= 37, though this is not an answer choice..

would appreciate an expert opinion.

generally in work and time problem we say that if m takes n days to complete the work, then m can do 1/n work in a day
