The most effective strategy for a company to use in order to maintain and increase profits over the long term is to maintain high ethical standards."

The fiduciary responsibility of the executives at the public traded corporations is to increase the profits of its share holders, partners and customers. There are numerous strategies to increase the wealth and profits, but for sure high ethics at work culture stands at the top of the ladder.

Ethics flow from the top to the bottom in any organization, and management, which is at the top always lead by example. High ethical standards of a work force act as a invisible helping hand in setting credentials of a organization. Not only does it increases the profits but also increases the employee satisfaction levels.

Trust and Honesty are two of the most important ingredients of high ethics and it creates a sense of belongingness amongst the workforce, thereby always keeping them motivated to go a step ahead

There have been often cases where unethical practices have caused the downfall of the companies. Not long ago, Industry leaders, such as Enron had to declare itself as bankrupt. Most economists and financial experts lay the blame on the unethical attitude of their executives.

On the other hand there are some companies who have survived and flourished for more than a century They have survived recession and other market fluctuations many a times only due to their professional and ethical attitude. One good example of such a company is Caterpillar Inc. People have worked in that organization for years and years and its like a legacy which is being passed from one generation to the next. The company is still growing strong and is destined to make higher profits inside and outside the country.

In conclusion, its ironical that though high ethics are important to any organization, but most corporations do take shorter routes as a faster way to success, in todays highly competitive world.

"Work performance and Merit should be the prime criteria to grant promotions in industries.".

In this era of modern industrialization, the main aim of the corporations is to maximise the profits of its share holders and executives. Higher productivity is directly proportional to increase in the profits of the industries. Therefore I agree to the statement above, Work performance and Merit should be the prime criteria to grant promotions in industries.

The better the moral of the employee workforce the higher committed it is to the hard work and performance. If employees are rewarded for their work, they tend to remain committed to the organization for long.
Some of the larger and successful corporations of the world have followed the principal of choosing work performance over the number of years of service.

India, which is now soon emerging as the software capital of the world boasts of numerous IT corporations. These have blossomed over last couple of decades. Software giants like Infosys, Tata Consultancy Services have workforce which have an average employee age between 25 and 35 years, serve as a good example of efficient work force with lower number of years of experience. There employee satisfaction factor and therefore customer satisfaction factor are far ahead than most of the manufacturing industries of the same age.

Even though, the work performance merit is true for most of the organizations, there are a few industrial domains where seniority is irreplaceable. Like for example Universities. Most of the universities have a very flat structure and consists of Professors and Senior Professors. Their main job is to teach and to do research and as they say, you can only be a better teacher with number of years under your belt.

Lastly, it can be concluded that the distinguishing factor for promotion and salary raise are based on an employee's industrial domain. No matter what ever you do, good and effecient work performance will always reap more benefits.

Although the modern information age has opened up channels of communication that never before existed, it, paradoxically, has destroyed the foundation of community by isolating individuals in a technological world that involves little real human interaction."

Angelina Jolie carries hers in her hand, Brad Pitt always takes it with him. Matt Deamon has one made up of Gold, Cell phone to these celebrities is
a necessity of life and ultimate source of happiness. In the modern electronic era, numerous communication channels have made the world a small place to live. Ironically, in this smaller world, the distance between communities and groups are more far fledged than ever before.
The invention of the new communication techniques has indeed destroyed the basic foundation of communities.

Firstly, human species is suppose to be social in nature, that is one of the reasons they live in socities. They are always dependent on each other.
However with these new techniques of communication, people are more lazy than ever before. All the necessities are available on finger tips or click of a mouse. People, sitting at home, can order what ever they need from the anywhere in the world. The new inventions has made a remarkable dent in the conventional market system, where people had to visit shops for their needs, whcih lead to more interaction.

To add to the above point, recently as seen in many countries of the world, People rarely get togeather for a social cause. Any wrong doings or illegal activities often get unnoticed as people do not attach them self to it. The new techniques have made people more independent than ever before. The Cohesive bond, amongst people in the societies are ultimately beginning to fall.

Similarly, the lesser human interactions have caused problems in relationships. People are more willing to talk/chat on cell phone than personally go and meet with their relatives. The warmth in the relationship is lost over a period of time if people dont meet.

Lastly, with the invention of new technologies, work force of many corporations has a advantange of working from their homes. Though it provides a cost cutting measure for most of the corporations, it again reduces the human interaction. People who often work from home often are secluded and isolates from the group.

Ultimately, as it sounds the communication channels have given the society benefits of faster and effective communication, but they have their own ill effects. In my view, there could be no better invention than one, which binds people together and make world a happy place to live.
