From the original: we know that M + Tu + W + Th + F + Sa + Su = 90
We know that Sa is the biggest and Fr is the 2nd biggest.
We know that each day is a different integer.
Q: is F > 11?
(1) Th = 8
Well, that means the rest of the days add up to 82. If we pick:
M = 1, Tu = 2, W = 3, Su = 4, F=5 and Sa = the rest, then we get a "no" answer to the question. However, if we pick:
M = 1, Tu = 2, W = 3, Su = 4, F=12 and Sa = the rest, then we get a "yes" answer to the question.
Could be "no" or "yes", therefore insufficient.
(2) Sa = 38
Let's try to make F NOT greater than 11. If we let F=11, then the maximum that the other 5 terms could be is 10, 9, 8, 7 and 6. However, 6 + 7 + 8 + 9 + 10 + 11 + 38 = 89. So, to get our total of 90, F must be at least 12 (and is therefore definitely > 11).
(2) is sufficient and (1) isn't: choose (B).
