Hi guys,
Here are the details :
GMAT - 690 and yet another 690
WE: 5.5 years consulting in telecom- IT and Strategy for a major IT consulting firm.
WE2: Switching jobs ( starting a new one this month) to Supply Chain optimization in the wireless industry- based out of chicago.
GPA - HORROR 2.48
Major - Industrial and Systems Engineering/ Minor in Business
UG school : Virginia Tech
Alternate transcript : took 2 courses - UCLA extension - got an A+ and B+ in Math for Management and Bus Stats resp. amounting to a cum gpa of 3.65.
ECs:
1) One of the founding fathers of a multi cultural fraternity chapter at Virginia Tech.
2) Co founder/ Owner of a digital record label - ( LLC)
3) Music producer with tracks recently charted on German Radio Stations etc..
4) Coed- soccer league captain .

Nationality - Yes - this works against me - one of the 100 Billion Indians.

So I applied to Kellogg, UVA, Duke in R1 in 2012 - dinged from all.

Now with the recent developments in my life - a new job- etc.. I will probably consider looking into the weekend part time programs in chicago - namely booth and kellogg.

Given the information you have read above - What should I do? Retake the GMAT - break the 710 barrier + take 2 more courses and ace them - save victims of a hurricane- make friends with Bill Clinton - Walk the circumference of EARTH- be the first man on mars?

CHEERS!

Two things ae key here
1. GMAT - your GMAT has to be EVEN better than usual.. You have a 2.58 to make up for and they just have too many indian candidates with a 3.0 or higher and 720 or higher...
:(
2. Stand out professionally.. I won't know exactly how you would do this until we chat... but basically, you have to show that you are NOT "just another indian", but that you are "the BEST indian" :).... this is terms first and foremost of your work experience... and then of everything else...

Being the first man on Mars would probably get you in - or then you could probably bypass b-school altogether! From what I understand the EMBA programs are not as competitive, but they will really look at work experience more than items like GPA, so that's good for you.

So - The DUKE Cross continent MBA.
Anyone knows any thing more about this?
I think I may have a shot at this.
I was contacted by the dean of admissions - and they may be considering me for it.

Thanks for the replies so far .
I got into the CC Duke Emba program but withdrew my application as I need to give the part time programs a chance - got promoted once in 5 months and intend to make it twice in 10 months in my new job.
I just cannot get myself to take the gmat again....
