Nature vs. Nurture CR Bonus for today

The usual contest banner didn't appear on that past. Can you check and see if it's an error. It's the only nature vs. nurture CR post by Ben that I could find.

Hi sorter,
I have personally emailed this issue to David. So let's wait until he reverts and provides us with any update on this.
Yes, the sign-post should be made visible. It seems David needs to update his code.

Hey guys,

David usually deals with these sort of tech issues but it's a weekend and he's naturally taking some time off for his family. Besides, he's on the PST time zone, so right now it's barely morning for him. Please do not PM him all at once because he's been super busy these past days, working really hard for this game (and I'm sure everyone appreciates that). The fact that some of you have noted the problem in the forums is sufficient, he'll surely look into it when he has the time.

That being said, people should not get too frustrated because of this bug for the simplest of reasons: if it's not working for anyone, then no one will have a competitive advantage. No one is scoring points on that article, so everything just stays the same. It would definitely be a different matter if some were able to see the Facebook banner and some didn't, but that's not the case.

Please be patient and I'm sure this will be sorted out.

GMAT score is equally counted as your GPA and 78 clicks can change you life.

Agree with you Dana as the issue is with everyone and not one person no one gets the advantage. Really appreciate the effort which BTG members have put in to arrange this game of such a huge stature. Hats off to you guys.. Thanks a lot

considering that a large majority of players are from Asia and particularly from India, I think there should have been a BTG Moderator/Volunteer based in India, who could have handled/supported the GAME and answered most of the queries. How much can David alone can do? It seems practically impossible for one man to do code development, test the functionality, then regression testing, sanity testing, end-to-end testing, production testing, etc. Take this issue itself, we could have easily mitigated the risk by authorizing the read and write access of the BTG production server to a trustworthy moderator in India OR to someone in BTG office who would work on weekends to support the GAME. It is like missing SLAs for the customers if customers(we players) r not able to get as is expected...

No doubt, David's efforts have been exemplary but my only concern is that we could have mitigated risks...

Anyway thanks to DanaJ for providing a timely post/update on this issue. Otherwise God only knows for how many people around the globe, this could have resulted in counter-productivity....

just random thoughts from my mind.....

I don't have an answer for your observations. I just feel like David has implemented this game in an awesome fashion. If we had expaned our team for this game, it would have probably pushed the launch date for the game sometime in November. I have a feeling that if I ask everyone who's playing right now what they'd prefer:
- everything goes seamlessly, but they win prizes one or two months from now
- people get the help they need (through courses, consulting packages, BTG Practice Questions etc.) now rather than later, but the game occasionally needs the smallest bit of adjusting

over 90% would say the prefer the second option. That's because people in general are aiming for R2 deadlines and the likes.

Sometimes I feel like people are missing the whole point of this game. By reading some of users' complaints and feedback, it just saddens me to see that people sometimes forget the big picture: what's the ultimate reason why you're here? To win a contest? Yes, it's thrilling, it's exciting and David did an awesome job with it. The prizes are simply amazing and they reflect a huge effort on the part of everyone, the team and our sponsors.

However, players' primary purpose should be to Beat The GMAT and get into the school of their dreams. David implemented the quiz function with just that purpose in mind: people need to learn stuff from this experience. I feel like sometimes we need to take a step back and remind ourselves of this.

Don't panic if something doesn't go exactly as we/you have planned! Stuff will get fixed, we don't just ignore your comments. Last week I believe, David answered some comments from over the weekend a bit later because he was working on getting more prizes for you. Would you prefer more prizes or... ?
