The GMAT Official Guides 2017 Edition – Part 4

by , Jun 16, 2016

1Welcome to the fourth installment of our series on the new Official Guides for GMAT Review (2017 edition). If you havent seen the earlier installments yet, start here and work your way back to me.

I know that some people have already worked through the 2016 editions of the books and want to know which questions in the 2017 editions are the new ones. Ive got the scoop for you!

About 15% of the questions in each of the three books were swapped out and replaced with new questions. (And there are some really interesting new ones!)

Lets start with The Official Guide for GMAT Review 2017, aka the OG or the big book. Here are lists of the problem numbers for the Problem Solving and Data Sufficiency questions that are new to the OG2017 edition. There are 35 new PS problems and 26 new DS problems.

And here are the lists for the Reading Comprehension, Critical Reasoning, and Sentence Correction questions that are new to the OG2017 edition. There are 21 new problems each for RC and SC, and there are 19 new CR problems.

Ive got the quant- and verbal-only books for you too. Here are lists of the problem numbers for the Problem Solving and Data Sufficiency questions that are new to the Quant Review 2017 edition. There are 26 new PS problems and 19 new DS problems.

Last but not least, here are the new-problem numbers for the OG2017 Verbal Review book. There are 15 new RCs, 13 new CRs, and 17 new SCs.

Did you notice that the question numbers for certain problem types seem awfully high? The books have moved to continuous numbering; each new chapter doesnt re-start the number at 1. The books come with online access to these same problems on a website that allows you to do randomly-generated sets of problems. That website now also numbers the problems, so you can easily look up the problem in the book if you so desire.

Finally, do you find any of the new-to-2017 problems especially interesting? Call out the problem numbers in the comments below (make sure to tell us which book youre referencing) and tell us what you find interesting about that problem.

Happy studying!
