ISB R2 applicant - Request advice

by down_not_out » Tue Nov 15, 2011 7:50 pm
Hi.

Poor GMAT score of 600 (10-Nov).1st attemot. I am an R2 applicant for ISB. I know I can do at least an 80-100 pts jump in GMAT but can't appear for the next 31 days (GMAC policy).

My essays reccos are ready and I think they are good and well reasoned. My confidence with the GMAT led me to postpone the exam till the very end. Grad results are very average

However, I would like to think that my overall profile is strong.

Work Ex- 8 Years ( Sales - Insurance (7years), consumer durables (1year))
current role - Area Manager for a channel for the largest pvt life Ins co in India (Span of control - 7 states )
Launched and spearheaded the channel in 7 states.
Career marked by a very fast growth and several promotions , letters of appreciations from the MD, Chief of HR, Head of Sales etc.
Had been a key member of the team that devoloped the payout structure for distributors of a major channel of the company
Extra curriculars - above avg

I know it's a very long shot but my question is as follows
Are re-applicants viewed negatively?
If i give a GMAT before the interviews ,can I send it to the school and will it count?
ISB is best suited to my post MBA choice of career, and on rejection this year , I will appear for R1 next year, rather than appear for other schools this year. Will keep back-ups for next year but not before I give it a good shot at ISB. Plan to re-appear for GMAT in dec.

I feel that on rejection , I will have the opportunity of having the holes in my resume, if any, other than GMAT pointed out by the school and probably will be able to package myself better next year.

Thank you for having a look at this post. Request an early response as I am left with very little time

There's nothing at all wrong with being a reapplicant, to answer your first question. So you got nothing to fear about applying. We always do our best. And schools like to see you try to do your best. So I would say that yes, apply to ISB if you can get that score you need (Say at least 90 if not 100 points more). But since you are applying to one school only, make sure your application is the most beautiful polished diamond it can be.
