Hello everyone,
I am writing to get opinions for the options that I have regarding my MBA. I am a mechanical engineer currently located in Midwest with over 7 years of experience. I am looking to get MBA degree to help further my career. I am looking at doing MBA part time while working at my current company. This will help me pay for my tuition and since I am paying out of my pocket, I don't want to go to the best school around and get $100K degree. I am looking for the schools that are affordable yet have good programs. I am not looking into changing careers either.
GMAT (already attempted)- 660

School Choices (GMAT scores seem sufficient for these schools)
Indiana University Kelly - online MBA
Purdue University Krannert - weekend MBA
DePaul University Kellstadt - weekend MBA
Regional Local School - Regular MBA (half the tuition cost compared to the remaining 3)
Please weight in on my school choices and suggest which adds most value.

According to my analysis, Indiana Univ has online MBA - most flexible, the education mat'l is same as their full time program, taught by same faculty. Downside, it is an online program, so the learning exp is always is questionable. Purdue program meets every Saturday while DePaul meets every 2nd Saturday. Both schools are well reputed and cost similar. Local school will be easiest but it is a non-ranking school.

Thanks for your inputs in advance.

Well they are totally different programs and very hard to compare....
Personally, I would tend to shy away from online programs, and the lack of brick and mortar space doesn't allow you to take full advantage of some of the most important things i.e. networking, career services etc. A local school can be good for you if you want/need a full-time program. even if it's ranking isn't super, if they are well hooked up locally, it can be a very good bet. Otherwise, the weekends programs are fine, as long as you have something to do during the week!

Broadly, a full-time MBA is always the best option due to the prolific practical experiences it offers backed by professional networking and placements. This prepares you better for a management career than a part-time or online MBA.

Therefore, if the regional local school manages to offer you a good career push, prefer it. Next on the block is part-time MBA program due to the limited practical experiences it offers. Here, as per some latest rankings, DePaul ranks quite higher than the Purdue University. Therefore, find the latest data and try comparing the local full-time MBA career prospects and that of DePaul's weekend program.

As mentioned above, if local is good, go for it. Else, try getting into DePaul. Purdue can be your next choice. Online MBA should be the last option due to the negligible practical experiences and the networking opportunities here.

A management career is much beyond just theory.
