Hi,
I've been accepted to IESE and HEC. Any thought of which to go for?
I've a background in big 4 consulting and media strategy. I am looking to do an MBA to grow my international outlook and develop my leadership skills, in order to ultimately move into a global media / tech company in a biz dev role OR move into consulting with MBB. I'm from the UK and will be working in UK post-MBA.
Which school do you think is best for me? Some first thoughts that I have...
IESE - pros:
- Better brand?
- Seems like has strong relationships with MBB firms, with lots of alumni going there?
- Case method
IESE - cons:
- Having been in FT's top 8 globally for last few years, has taken a big tumble in latest rankings and is now actually ranked lower than HEC
- Seems like campus is small and dated
HEC - pros:
- New campus looks very impressive
- Higher in rankings than IESE recently
HEC - cons:
- Have heard mixed reports about quality of teaching
- Seems like a slightly slower caliber of candidate that gets accepted
- The brand is not nearly as well know (outside of France)
Great to get thoughts! Thanks.
IESE vs. HEC

I would take the new campus off your list of pros for HEC. What will that new campus do for your career exactly? Will it make your more attractive to potential employers? In general, I think we overestimate the value of a shiny, new campus building. Look more at the companies that are recruiting there and see which ones you could see yourself working for.
