In a certain class, 72 percent of the male students and 80 percent of the female students have applied to college.What fraction of the students in the senior class are male?

A) There are 840 students in the senior class

B) 75 percent of the students in the senior class have applied to college.

So, 0.72M + 0.8F = Applied to college. Question asks to find M/(M+F)

A) M + F = 840 -> INSUFFICIENT

B) 0.72M + 0.8F = 0.75 (M+F)
simplies to F=(3/5)M
-> SUFFICIENT

Alrite apple100 got it, i know its a simple equation but during the test sometimes mind just froze up!!!!

0.72M + 0.8F = 0.75M + 0.75F
0.05F= 0.03M
=> F:M = 5:3
