Felix Scholarships are intended for deserving students who require financial assistance to pursue postgraduate studies. The scholarships are given to students from India and other developing countries classified as low-income countries by the World Bank.

Distribution of the Felix Scholarship began with 6 awards in 1991-1992 and has now increased to 20 scholarships per year. The scholarship has benefitted 428 students to date.

Currently, the Felix Scholarship scheme offers 20 scholarships at three universities in the United Kingdom:

The University of Oxford,The University of Reading, andThe School of Oriental and African Studies (part of the University of London).

Felix Scholarship: Key Benefits
The scholarship covers 100% of tuition fees and provides approximately £16,164 towards living costs. It also offers coverage for a return flight to the UK from India. (16,00,000-20,00,000 INR)

Felix Scholarship: Eligibility Criteria
Applicants should check the eligibility criteria before applying for the Felix Scholarship. Given below are the eligibility criteria for the Felix Scholarship

The candidate must be of Indian nationality.
The applicants must be below the age of 30 years.
The applicant must not be currently residing or studying outside India.
Underprivileged applicants must apply for a full-time postgraduate program with any one of the partner universities.
The applicant must have a first-class undergraduate degree from a recognized Indian university.
Important Note:
Applicants who already hold a master’s degree are not eligible for the Felix Scholarships.Applicants must return to work in their home country after the completion of their studies.

Felix Scholarship: Application Process
Potential applicants should note that Felix Scholarship applications can only be made to one of the participating universities (the University of Oxford, the School of Oriental and African Studies and the University of Reading).

Each partner university has its own unique application process for the Felix Scholarships.

Application Process for Oxford University:
Applicants must simply tick the Felix Scholarship box on the University of Oxford postgraduate application form.

The necessary data that the applicant entered in the required sections of the admission application will also be used by university officials

Before the deadline, applicants must submit their postgraduate application in order to be considered.

Non-Indian Scholarship:
Students from countries other than India can also apply for the Felix Scholarship at Oxford University.

One scholarship is awarded each year to a resident of another country that is categorized under Other Low-Income Countries or Least Developed countries on the DAC list of ODA Receipts.

Eligibility Criteria for this scholarship are:

Must have a first-class undergraduate degree
Must not already hold a degree from outside your country
You must return to your country after the course is completed
Application Process at the University of Reading:
Upon receiving the offer, students need to complete the scholarship form at the me@reading applicant portal.

The applicant must fill out the admission offer to the postgraduate program at the University of Reading before the given deadline.

Application Process at the School of Oriental and African Studies:
Applicants must first apply for a master's or research degree program at the School of Oriental and African Studies.

Felix scholarships cover tuition fees and provide a stipend or living allowance. Below is the information providing an estimated cost incurred by international students at each of the participating universities:

The University of Oxford - USD 37,200-42,100 (INR 27.72 Lakh- 31.37 Lakh)

The University of Reading - USD 20,600-24,800 (INR 15.35 Lakh- 18.48 Lakh)

The School of Oriental and African Studies - USD 25,900-29,400 (INR 19.30 Lakh- 21.91 Lakh)

Felix Scholarship: Important Dates
The deadline, in the case of the University of Oxford, is either December or January depending on the course chosen.

For both the SOAS and the University of Reading, it is the end of January. After being shortlisted by universities in March and April, candidates typically have interviews in April and May.

Felix Scholarship: Selection Process
Here is the selection process for the Felix Scholarship:

The above universities shortlist applicants based on academic excellence and financial need.
The shortlisting procedure takes place in early March. Those applicants who are shortlisted must fill out a short questionnaire and then appear for their interview. The candidates receive a letter for the date and venue of the interview.
In addition to evaluating the applicant's academic aptitude, the interview and questionnaire also examine their personalities, financial needs, and eligibility for the Felix Scholarships.
The interview is either held in New Delhi or Bangalore and the decisions are usually announced in May.
