According to recent studies comparing the nutritional value of meat from wild animals and meat from domesticated animals, wild animals have less total fat than do livestock fed on grain and more of a kind of fat they think is good for cardiac health.

A. wild animals have less total fat than do livestock fed on grain and more of a kind of fat they think is
B. wild animals have less total fat than livestock fed on grain and more of a kind of fat thought to be
C. wild animals have less total fat than that of livestock fed on grain and have more fat of a kind thought to be
D. total fat of wild animals is less than livestock fed on grain and they have more fat of a kind thought to be
E. total fat is less in wild animals than that of livestock fed on grain and more of their fat is of a kind they think is

OA is B

Guys, what do you think of this question? I stucked between
B & C
I have seen Ron & stacey's post and they explain that C is wrong because of the wrong comparison. But I find the comparison in C seems to be correct. I just can't find out why the comparison in C is wrong. Anyone helps me?

Comparison in B: Wild animals have less total fat than livestock

Comparison in C: wild animals have less total fat than that of livestock

The comparison in C is wrong. Here, the "wild animals" should be compared with "livestock".

If the sentence were framed as "... the total fat of the wild animals than that of livestock... ". it would have been correct as the "total fat" is compared between wild animals and livestock.

See the construction of C.

wild animals have less total fat than that of livestock.

This is wrong. According to this sentence literally it means,

wild animals have less total fat than total fatof livestock. Is it correct?

Wild animals have less total fat than live stock
or
Wild animals have less total fat than the total fat of live stock.

Of course, first one is correct which is stated by B.

Take a look at the below simple sentences :

I have less money than you (have). (Correct)
I have less money than that of you. (Wrong)
The money of me is less than that of you. (Correct)
