Extracurriculars in application

Hi Team,

Many thanks for your great contribution to this forum.

I have trouble understanding word "Extracurricular Activities" in MBA Application context. It is causing Extra confusion to present in application

1.Are hobbies considered as Extracurricular activities? Like contributing to Wikipedia, Web Designing, Blogging etc?

2.Does occasional business/Tax advising qualify as Extracurricular even if they RELATE to my field of work?

3.Is contributing to NGO/Association only considered as extracurricular? I mean participating in structural organized way Or Voluntary personal acts too?
I mean in Non-NGO activities may not
- be organized, structural, regular
- impact society or have great cause
- give scope to display leadership/team management skills as adcoms may want to see?

Hello,

Great question! "Extra curricular" covers a lot of different things -- it can include personal hobbies (running, tennis, blogging), etc., participating in/leading a non formal organization (e.g., coaching a soccer team locally, leading a running group, organizing a local festival), volunteering for/leading a formal organization (sitting on the board of a non profit, volunteering, etc.). Any of these can count as extracurricular or community activities. Ideally, the more leadership you can demonstrate through these activities, the better.
