Explanation plzz..

Depending on one’s point of view, the proliferation of the television is either a great advance in communication or an unmistakable sign that the decline in high culture begun before the War is still continuing.

A decline in high culture begun before the War is still continuing

B decline of high culture begun before the War is still continuing

C decline of high culture that began before the War is continuing

D decline in culture in high places that began before the War is continuing

E declining culture in high places that began before the War still continues

OA is C

Got it right but pretty tricky - first clue : it should be began not began and it should be decline of as opposed to decline in.

WAit a second: How in the world is Decline of an idiomatic term.

EX. Correct: An analysis shows a decline in sales.
A decline in temperature.

Incorrect: An analysis shows a decline of sales
A decline of temperature

How is C correct? I like D

decline in - its used if there is a reduction, like "the decline in sales"

decline of - its used if there is a fall, like "the decline of Roman Empire"

So I will go with "C"

Thoughts?

Exactly plus D adds "in high places" which is redundant

I would say still continuing and still continue like in choices A,B and E is wrong as it is redundant. Still means in progress continuing also shows in progress so I would reject A, B and E on that behalf. I would say C is correct. Please let us knw the OA.
