Please provide the answer choices - without them it's almost impossible to figure out how to attack this kind of question. We're certainly not asked to calculate the value of 1000!, so the trick must be in using the choices.dferm wrote:Can anybody explain this to me...?

Ditto. This isn't a PS with 5 numerical choices since even 100! has 158 digits and you've still got a long way to go to get to 1000!. Even Matlab, a program that Excel wishes it was, calls 1000! = "infinite".Stuart Kovinsky wrote:Please provide the answer choices - without them it's almost impossible to figure out how to attack this kind of question. Are you sure you're not just playing with us?
It could have said what is the SUM of all integers 1 to 1000 inclusive. If that is the case then I think a good strategy is to turn it into a multiplication problem. If you match 1 and 1000, 2 and 999, 3 and 998, etc. you get 500 sums of 1001. That is an easily calculatable product of 500500.
