1. A
2. B
The word demands that x be Y ... If that is true B might sound right. But later part of B seems awkward. Does the word 'it' refers to the administration? I am confused too. Any help is much apprecited.

In the first one, it seems as if E would be right, however the sentence is really discussing stress EXPERIENCE, not boys or girls, so ending the sentence in boys does not appear to be correct. So I would go with A, since I could not eliminate it (I was down to A or E).HarvardDreamin wrote:1) Many teenagrs undergo stress, but results of a recent study indicate that the patterns of stress that girls experience are more likely to result in depression than are those that boys experience

For 2, I would go with B. "...money BE controlled by..." is less wordy and is therefore more concise than choice C. Also, if you look at the second part of both choices (part following comma) they are identical. E seems to say that the money is going to spend the school district. D messes up the tense completely. So I will have to go with B on that one.

I agree with 1)E and 2)B
1) the patterns of stress that girls experience.....more likely to result in depression than .... result in depression. when you see it like it, it seems obvious to me that the answer is E. since you compare "the results of" the patterns of stress of girls (yea weird expression) to "the results of" stress patterns of boys.. it may be D as well, "boys stress patterns do" but that just doesnt seem parallel to me with the patterns of stress of girls..not sure though..
2) "demand that x be" is the structure with subjunctive. so seems like B!
please let us know the QAs..

Answers
1) The correct answer is A. We are comparing the stress patterns of girls to those of boys. In order to keep parallelism and to ensure we keep the comparison between the patterns of stress between girls and boys we need "those of" in the sentence.
All the other choices use faulty comparison.
2) The correct answer is B. Because the sentence used demand, the correct verb that completes the sentence is "be". All other choices use the wrong verb.
I hope this helps1
