Hi,
I have decided to pursue my MBA part-time. I live in the San Francisco Bay Area & my 1st choice is obviously Berkeley EWMBA. I am also considering Chicago Booth Weekend program. However, I am still not convinced whether making weekend trips to Chicago from San Francisco is really worth it! Could someone help me analyze this situation?
Thanks!

Well, I think YOU need to analyze the situation.
Because its your life. You know think about life and wife and kids and all the other things. Some people do do this, but it can be very tough to pull off, and depending on your personal situation, might be a good idea or not...
although I have to admit, this is a bit out of my scope as an Admission Consultant...

Thanks for your reply, Jon. I actually need more information on whether people who travel to Chicago (from outside of IL) are able to get the full value of the program. Group projects, assignments, and anything that requires a group of students to meet would be problematic for these students, No?

I just started the Booth weekend program and I fly in from the west coast. Homework and group work is done during lunch or over the phone/webex. Since most weekend students commute from out of town, you are not at a disadvantage. That said, there are some benefits of being local: there are more class selection on evenings (from the number of enrolled students) and a lot of events and talks are throughout the week.
Personally, if I still lived in the bay area I would have gone to Haas. The commute (both cost and physical toll) should not be downplayed. Regardless, feel free to PM me if you have specific questions.
Furthermore, I would also recommend you try calling the part time office of admissions and they can put you in touch with a current weekend student in the bay area.
