This topic has expert replies
do we have to wait to actually take GMAT n get score or we can start the application process before that so that we knock out few requirements that can be looked into before getting gmat score?? like transcripts, essays, recos, etc.. and fill in the score later and complete an application. Hi, although the exact process depends on the school, most schools allow you to start the application process before taking the GMAT. So yes, you can start working on the essays, transcripts, etc. However, depending on the final GMAT score, you might want to relook at your b-school choices....if you get a higher GMAT score than expected, you would want to apply to a higher tier school. If you are reasonably certain of the GMAT score you are targeting and have all the other elements of your story ready, you can start working on the essays. You can submit the application piece-meal too, but do ensure that all requirements are met by the deadline of the stage you are wanting to apply in. The best order of priority will be the transcripts (since they remain same irrespective of the school), essays and recos (you don't want to trouble the referees again if you decide to change the school after GMAT) like you've mentioned.verne10 wrote:do we have to wait to actually take GMAT n get score or we can start the application process before that so that we knock out few requirements that can be looked into before getting gmat score?? like transcripts, essays, recos, etc.. and fill in the score later and complete an application. Yes! Absolutely, but, remember that your GMAT score needs to be submitted by the deadline and if you don't get the score you were hoping for you could have some extra work to do. Generally people wait on the essays and actual applications until they have a GMAT score because (as the other expert wrote) it does help you determine which school would be a fit, but, you can do things like work on your resume and gather your transcripts (and even have preliminary conversations with recommenders) without knowing exactly which schools will be your final choices.

Just be careful not to get sidetracked by doing essays! And that's coming from someone who made the mistake!
My goal is to make MBA applicants take onus over their process.
