We have the following

Distance travelled in p hours = x kilometers = 1000*x metres

Distance travelled in p seconds = 1000*x/3600 = 5x/18 metres

Distance travelled in 1 seconds = 1000*x/3600 = 5x/18p metres

Distance travelled in s seconds = 1000*x/3600 = (5xs)/(18p) = sx/(3.6p) metres

The correct answer: C

The speed of the motorcycle is x/p kmph. In meters per second, it will be:

1000x/(3600p) = 10x/(36p) = x/(3.6p)

Therefore, in s seconds, the motorcycle travels s * x/(3.6p) = sx/(3.6p) meters.

Answer: C

Hi All,

We're told that a motorcycle travels at a speed of X kilometers per P hours. We're asked for the number of meters it will travel in S seconds, in terms of S, P and X. (xps ≠ 0; 1 kilometer = 1000 meters). This question can be solved in a number of different way, including by TESTing VALUES. Since the answers are suitably different from one another, you can actually take advantage of the 'relationships' among the variables to make your calculations really easy.

IF.... X=1 and P=1, then the motorcycle travels 1 kilometer/hour. This equals 1,000 meters/hour.
IF... S = 3600, then we're traveling for 3600 seconds, which is 1 hour.
Thus, since the question is asking for meters traveled per S seconds, we're looking for an answer that equals 1,000 when X=1, P=1 and S=3600. Since we have to find a way to "offset" the 3600, you can avoid doing most of the calculations simply because the answer in question doesn't account for that. There's only one answer that matches...

Final Answer: C
