DS Groups
1. DS Groups: From a class, 180 students take either math or science. 120 take math and 100 take science. How many took math but not science?
(A) 50 took science but not math.
(B) 75 took only science.

the number 9 and 15 are when divided by 6 leave a remainder of three
now plug in your answers starting with D 3(9) is not divisible by six.

Are you sure e is correct because this is what i got
statement 1) x is either positive or negative, and x is not zero because zero is considered neutral by the gmat
2) x is zero or negative
hence together since x is not zero it but be negative answer choice C

here is an approximation
write down the formula for a cylinder
area = height ( area of a circle)
= H ( pie r^2)
next since 3 cc/ft = .1 ft then 30cc = 1
plug in for 1 h
30cc = 1 (pie r^2)
30 = 3.14 r^2
10 = around r^2
3*3 = 9
r is approximately 3

These types of questions you have to figure out what you can factor out. In this question you can factor out 2^(x-2) by making 2^x into 8^(x-2) when you factor you get 2^(x-2) (4-1) = 3(2^13) I notice with these questions that the factor on the other side gives it away. 3 means you need a (4-1) afte...

Try this way. 1 minus the chance of getting no rotten apples
1)chance of getting no rotten apples
1 1st chance is 4/5
2nd chance is 3/4
then multiply (3/4)(4/5) = 12/20
1- (12/20) = 8/20 (chance of not getting a rotten apple) =4/10 = 2/5
