I find the language used in the question ambiguous: (2)2n divisible by twice as many +ve integers as n I think it should read: " 2n divisible by twice as many +ve integers as does n " Else, possible interpretations: (a)2n has twice as many factors as "n" (b)2n has twice as many ...

Thanks Rich & GmatGuru.
The said variables represent prices and would have several pairs of solution.
Paying careful attention to instructions is key.

An old thread though. Original question: 500x + 384b = 34,600 I was lured into thinking x and y each have a unique value. So, I chose B because then we would have: 500(0.8x) + 384b... x and b known from d original stem. I was wrong...how do I test whether an equation of such has a unique solution or...

is SQRT[(x-3)^2] = 3-x
Is SQRT[(x-3)^2] = 3-x [/u]1st step I rephrased as: is |x-3|=x-3 Solution a: x-3=3-x => x=3 Solution b: x-3 = -(3-x)... 0=0...not valid So, only solution a is valid i.e is x=3? Implying A is sufficient 2nd step However, testing #s shows that all values less than 2 are valid. In this case, B is suffi...

The Erythrovirus412, which affects farmed Atlantic salmon, infects human beings by adhering to red blood cells. The virus elevates the body’s white blood cell count, indicating that the body is fighting an infection. Surprisingly, when a group of recently-infected people were tested, the proporti...

My line of reasoning is that since r, s, and t are non-zero positive values, their average should be
(r+ s + t)/ 3...given that |R| = r; |S|=s; |T|=t
Kindly point where am making errors
Thank you

Thanks GmatGuru.
On another hand, I think previous trends are not a guarantee for future occurence.
Would this line of reasoning be adequate to quickly eliminat C?
That to say even if C mentions weather impact causing a drop in price, the option would still not surfice.

Hi peter456, This question can be solved by TESTing VALUES. Based on their positions on the number line, we know that S and T are POSITIVE and R is NEGATIVE, so let's TEST... R = -3 S = 1 T = 2 Since r, s and t are the ABSOLUTE VALUES of those 3 numbers, we have... r = 3 s = 1 t = 2 The question as...

the number line shown contains 3 points
The number line shown contains 3 points R, S, and T, whose coordinates have absolute values r, s, and t, respectively. Which of the following equals the average of the coordinates of the points R, S, and T? (A)s (B)s + t + r (C)(r-s-t)/3 (D)(r+s+t)/3 (E)(s+t-r)/3 Sorry I can't draw but just an idea;...
