Great information from all, and Vivian has some excellent thoughts. It is crucial to balance your prep on both Verbal and Quant and have ingrained strategies for all the different types. It might make sense to do additional self-study along with the Magoosh videos. If you are looking for in depth gu...

Great info from David. The general opinion is that both of those courses are excellent. I would examine differences in their offerings to see if one feels like a better fit for your needs as a high scoring retaker.

GMAC keeps putting out new electronic materials including the QPack and the Exam Prep Package of 2 CATs. Please be more specific and we can give you b...

It sounds like the last time you took the official test, you didn't perform up to your abilities. Perhaps nerves played a large role there? Had you taken quite a few CATs in the month before the test under test conditions? Its important to get yourself ready for the challenges of the official test t...

Great post: some important subtleties of how GMAT score is viewed based on background/experience. Of course, the higher an applicant's GMAT score the better, but some of the guidance here should help those on the bubble of retaking vs applying.

Hi Daniel. It is crucial to closely integrate practice with your learning of strategies in all subjects but especially SC. You can't learn all the rules at once and then practice them; you need to learn a bit, then practice a bit using the OGs, and also have systematic review built in. With 27 days ...

If you have a busy schedule and are self-motivated, then studying on your own can be a great alternative to a class, assuming you can acquire all the materials easily in India. As far as which materials to use, a schedule to follow, and guidance on getting the most out of each prep hour, I recommend...

So you didn't use any strategy guides along with the OGs (for instance the MGMAT series or the Kaplan Premiere book). Strategy guides are crucial for scoring your highest. Using one of the two I mentioned with further practice should help you improve your score a great deal. I very much doubt you ha...

You mentioned that you worked through the OG 13, but what strategy guide(s) did you use? Did you work with the Verbal and Quant review books? How many CATs did you take? Without knowing more about your prep it is a bit challenging to give you advice on a retake. All that said, retaking will not hurt...

Hi Deepak. With emphasis on your verbal prep and to a lesser degree your Quant abilities, you can greatly improve your score. Going up 120 points in two months is possible if you prep intelligently. I'm not sure using LSAT problems is your best bet for Critical Reasoning prep right now as there are ...

Hi Sebastian. Thanks for the detailed information on your prep needs. Given the amount that you have already prepped, it is very unlikely that you can improve your score 210 points in six weeks. I think you will need at least two months of focused prep to accomplish that goal. Fortunately, you can i...
