Answer is (C)
Condition 1)
X<1 so x can be 0.2, 0.5, or -2
hence x may or may not be greater than x^2
Condition 2)
X is positive by itself will not help because x can be less than or greater than 1..
Combining both of them we can definitely say X is greater than X^2.

GMAT beat me....:( (620 , Q : 49 V:27)
Hi guyz, I took my test on Feb 6...and was shocked to see score of 620 (Q : 49 V:27). I really dont know what went wrong. The prep was good. Was consistently getting score of 700 when i took GMATPrep. I felt so low when i saw the score. Though i am planning to apply for Singapore colleges not sure t...

Vikram there is flaw in your argument
If x<0 then -3x+7=2x+2 or x=1 (But x<0)
Why did you make equation -3x-7 to -3x+7...?
Since only the value of x is changing you cannot change the sign of 7...
So the equation is -3x-7=2x+2
-5x=9 or x=-9/5
Hence its C

Have small doubt why is it not D ?
Is sqrt((x-3)^2) = 3 - x
Squaring both sides
(x-3)^2=(3-x)^2---cant we use this ??
