I agree...I think we should keep the end goal in sight always...We have to crack GMAT verbal...So lets focus on the official material from GMAT itself...Why to unnecessarily practice using more difficult books/course...

Oh Ok...Got it SticklorForDetails...That was amazing...My bad...I saw that -ing and I thought that its a verb-ing...So this is like any prepositional phrase modifier - According to his own account - or per his own account...- or by his own account - as you mentioned.

Sorry guys...the OA is D. Its not C. Now here comes my doubt... I could get to the correct answer - D. But I have some confusion about the modifiers. I thought that choice E is incorrect because which – noun modifier modifies years. But why is choice D correct. Isn't "an increase, ……"...

ok so now I have 2 questions... Is "according to his own account" modifying just the subject - Frederic implying that Frederic is according to his own account - ??? Or does it modify the subject and verb both implying that Frederic modeled the face of statue...according to his own account....
