An inequality that involves one absolute value has 2 cases to consider. Since this inequality has two absolute values, there are 3 cases to consider. I'll discuss why there are 3 cases below. Let a represent (3+2x) Let b represent (4-x) Now suppose |a| > |b| represents the original equation |3 + 2x|...

I'll update when I get my AWA scores. It should be very interesting because in the conclusion I managed to include the motto from a popular 1980's American cartoon (G.I. Joe: "Knowing is half the battle").

700 (50Q 35V): I'll take it =)

I finished writing my GMAT exam less than an hour ago and I feel fantastic. A score equal to or greater than 700 was my target and I barely achieved it. I'm very grateful I found this forum to help me when I started studying one month ago. It helped me understand what resources were useful and which...

Attached should be "Nova MATH Review.pdf", a file that was posted on this site a few weeks ago. It covers all high school math, which is what is tested. As for the verbal part, I recommend getting your hands on an official GMAT guide. They contain over 800 past GMAT questions. Another grea...

When do you see your GMAT CAT Score?

Is it instant, upon completing the verbal section of the test? I understand that the AWA needs to be marked by an e-reader as well as a human, therefore it will take more time.

Excellent post sanju, thanks for clarifying that an answer given in less than 10 seconds is not deemed to a guess. Sometimes the questions are very short and simple.

Best post I have seen in my month of lurking and posting here. Thank you so much for your post. I would buy you a beer if you were in my city, but since you're not I'll just have one on your behalf.

Please elaborate on the concepts being used. In the xy-plane, does the line with equation y = 3x + 2 contain the point (r, s)? 1) (3r+2-s)(4r+9-s) = 0 2) (4r-6-s)(3r+2-s) = 0 It is not difficult to see that 3r+2-s has the same form of the line y=3x+2. What is the significance of 4r+9-s in (1), and ...

Water: 22 m^3 / hour
Tank: 0.7 m^3 / hour

Water:Tank = 22:0.7 = 22/0.7:1 ~10*pi:1

Volume of cylinder: pi * radius^2 * height

10*pi = pi * radius^2 * 1
10 = radius^2
radius = sqrt(10)

2^(2x-1) = 8^y
2^(2x-1) = (2^y)(2^y)(2^y)
2^(2x-1) = 2^(3y)
2x-1 = 3y
2x = 3y+1
x = (3y+1) / 2

OA: B, although the character for 1/2 doesn't display correctly on my computer.
