Okay, after reading the plethora of introductions here thought I might give it a try as well!

I guess my nick speaks for itself and of course on my behalf too Smile. I've been like a "cat sitting on the wall" about pursuing an MBA. Finally after realizing that being in a 8-5 job will be unproductive (though not totally) financially I decided to take the leap.

More about me: Have a graduate degree in electrical engineering with a little under 7 years of work ex as an electrical engineer. Work mostly involved electronics and embedded systems design for semiconductor OEM company and now for a diversified industrial manufacturer. Very interested in photography, spirituality and music.

Currently scheduled to take my GMAT on the 12th of May. But I just might end up rescheduling that to a date in either June or July.

Scores in practice tests were 560 and 500 (Kaplan and GMATPrep respectively). I'm quite rusty with my fundamentals and truly believe it to be the reason for my low scores. Let's see where this journey takes me and what kind of scores it leads too.

Three cheers to Eric for starting this forum and to the others for carrying on the good work Eric started!!!!! Absolutely fantastic effort!!!

Cheers!

Didn't see an introduction type forum, so didn't know exactly where to put this.

I'm Kevin. Turning 23 on Monday. Married this past January.

Graduated a semester early, magna cum laude in December 2005.
7 months of an internship with Enterprise Rent A Car, plus 1.25 years of work experience thus far.
GPA in college (business management) was a 3.85.

By the time Fall 2008 rolls around, I will have 2 years, 7 months of experience.

I currently work for a multi-billion dollar IT staffing firm, and thus far in 2007 I am in 1st/2nd in terms of revenue production in my office of 8 recruiters.

Career Path:
Internship May 2005-December 2005 w/ERAC
Jan 06 - Mar 06 - Management Trainee
Mar 06 - August 06 - Management Assistant (very fast promotion thanks to internship)
August 06 - current - TEKsystems (IT recruiting firm)

I have not taken the GMAT yet, I plan to study for quite a while to try and master it before taking it ($250 is a lot of money to me).

The schools I am interested in, in order:

1. Duke/Fuqua
2. Vandy/Owens
3. UNC/Kenan-Flagler

I am not targeting the big name schools in Chicago, the northeast, Washington D.C., etc. because I want to stay in the southeast or south-atlantic states. I am really interested in Duke because it would get my wife and I closer to home. I was wowed by their brochure as well.

So, with my credentials thus far... and I know GMAT is a huge piece of this... would you say I have a decent shot? I am concerned, obviously about the GMAT and work experience. I have excelled at the two positions I have had, but it isn't like I've been doing management consulting coming right out of college.

Anyways, I also write about personal finance and other random tidbits when I get the chance.

I figured I would wait on Stacy since she is out of office until 4/15.

I saw the scholarship thing and am really impressed by that. What is the deadline?
