small typo

by sayush » Tue Jun 12, 2007 1:18 pm
These flashcards are great!

I noticed a small typo in the Quants section Page 41 (according to adobe reader).

The text of slide is below -->
**********
Q: Highest Common Factor (HCF), Lowest Common
Multiple (LCM) – Prime Factorization
(x^r)(y^r) = (xy)^r
(3^3)(4^3) = 12^3 = 1728
Remember: purchase price is not the same as
market value.
Odd numbers have only odd factors.
1. Start by writing each number as product of its prime factors.
2. Write so that each new prime factor begins in same place.
3. Highest Common Factor is found by multiplying all factors
appearing on BOTH lists.
60 = 2 x 2 x 3 x 5
72 = 2 x 2 x 2 x 3 x 3
HCF = 2 x 2 x 3 = 12
4. Lowest common multiple found by multiplying all factors in
EITHER list.
60 = 2 x 2 x 3 x 5
72 = 2 x 2 x 2 x 3 x 3
HCF = 2 x 2 x 2 x 3 x 3 x 5 = 360
**********

I believe the 'HCF' towards the bottom of the slide should be 'LCM'.

Keep up the great work :lol:

Thanks a million for the flashcards! They are a big help.

Minor typo: Page 4. "The people in my officer are...", should probably say "office".

Probably being quite dumb about this but I have no qualms( Sorry Socrates :lol: )

Right so am starting off my prep. Now because I teach Quant I think I am pretty much done with most of my Quant topics. However, if i were a newbie how could I derive the most out of the flashcards?

What should be my approach?

The flashcards are useful to review on a daily basis, just to get familiar with difficult subjects tested on the GMAT.

However, the most valuable set of flashcards you can create are your own. I would use these flashcards as a model for creating your own set. Whenever you encounter an idea or problem that you think is important to learn, write it onto an index card and review the concept daily.

I am a strong proponent of flashcards and I think that the exercise of making and reviewing them does so much to improve your GMAT performance.

Best of luck!
